Hassan II mosque visit
Hassan II mosque seems from far like any mosque of Morocco, but when getting closer to it, you will find that it is very huge and magnificent. The magic is in the detail.
The first thing that perhaps grabs any visitors’ attention is the mosque minaret. It is high and huge. The mosque minaret soars up to 200 meters high in the blue sky, about 656 feet, and 25 meters wide, about 82 feet. Then, the northern side of the mosque that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean with its ramparts against the open Atlantic roaring waves. When getting closer to the mosque, the mosque walls and ceilings will surprise the eye and imagination. They feature multiple variegated arches, marble sculptures, and mosaic architectures mainly built out of stone, wood, and copper. And there is the mosque spacious prayer hall that measures 200 meters by 100 meters, and above it, there is a central roof that can be open to the sky.
Inside the mosque museum, there is little information to tell more about the mosque project. It would be very useful if more information was posted in there to let visitors read it and know about the mosque project in the early stages of its creation. Such information could be, for example, the number of craftsmen that worked tirelessly to bring this masterpiece to life, which is 35,000, and the whole country had financially contributed to this ambitious building project and many more other useful information that surely will add value besides the many kinds of decorative crafts the museum exhibits.Minaret
