Sellers come from faraway places to peddle their things, trying to sell them and make some profits, but the competition is always very tough. In order to compete in the Sunday Souk, peddlers need to advertise well their products. In fact, with the use of portable megaphone speakers, vendors can advertise their products all day long by playing an exciting recorded voice ad that loops over and over and over again informing customers, for instance, about product prices or about detailed recipes of how to get rid of flies or about the steps of how to use a kitchen machine. The Jeeran coffeehouse is one of the cafés in the Park Area of the city of Mohammedia. It combines the smoking and the non-smoking sections so that patrons can relax with coffee while they enjoy reading a book, having a little chat, or doing schoolwork. In addition to a menu of delicious sandwiches and cakes, the Jeeran coffeehouse offers to host birthday celebrations and television game events. The place tends to fill up at evening time around 5:00 p.m., and the crowds leave around 10:00 p.m., but the café stays open until 11:00 p.m. In case you like to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee, you can plan to go there earlier during the day or very late in the evening.

For so many years, Cinema Najah was one of the perfect places to go to in a city of Morocco named Mohammedia. Many people found nothing as exciting as an afternoon of going to the movie theater alone or with friends, especially on a Thursday where the new big movie posters were glued on Cinema Najah’s walls.

Usually, movies are a kind of storytelling; they try to describe an idea or record an observation about our culture, but Cinema Najah’s movie were never about Moroccan culture! They were either American movies like Rambo or Indian movies that had song and dancing for hours; in most cases, they were picture movies, too long to watch, and not translated to Moroccan Arabic.

Although most of Cinema Najah’s moviegoers were not able to understand the language of the movie they were watching, surprisingly they were able to get its main idea. For instance, in American movies, the main character was always the hero, and America was the world saver.
