• Cinema Najah

  One of the most exciting places in the city of Mohammedia is now closed
  

  For so many years, Cinema Najah was one of the perfect places to go to in a city of Morocco named Mohammedia. Many people found nothing as exciting as an afternoon of going to the movie theater alone or with friends, especially on a Thursday when the new big movie posters were glued on Cinema Najah's walls.
  
  Cinema Najah had two kinds of tickets, the balcony and the main floor. The balcony ticket cost around twelve dirhams, whereas the main floor ticket cost six. Cinema Najah opened twice a day for the public. The first opening was from 3pm until 6pm, and the second was from 9pm until midnight. It had two sets of movies playing during each opening, and it was a fifteen-minute break time between them. During the break time, clients could buy, for example, a barbecue sausage or boiled egg sandwich or smoke a cigarette.   During the weekdays, the place is an empty space filled with nothing but earth, litter, and street dogs. Yet, on the weekend, it is a magical marketplace called the Sunday Souk in the city of Mohammedia. Sellers come from faraway places to peddle their things, trying to sell them and make some profits, but the competition is always very tough. In order to compete in the Sunday Souk, peddlers need to well advertise their products. In fact, with the use of portable megaphone speakers, vendors can advertise their products all day long by playing an exciting recorded voice ad that loops over and over again, informing customers, for instance, about product prices or detailed recipes of how to get rid of flies or the steps of how to use a kitchen machine. Though a portable megaphone speaker is used basically for advertising goods, it can also be used to find a kid who lost his mother in the crowds of the souk.   The Jeeran coffeehouse is one of the coffee shops in the Kasba Park Area of the city of Mohammedia. It combines the smoking and the non-smoking so that patrons can relax drinking a cup of coffee while they enjoy reading a book, having a little friendly chat, or doing schoolwork. In addition to a menu of delicious sandwiches and cakes, the Jeeran coffeehouse offers to host birthday celebrations and television game events. The place tends to fill up at evening time around 5 p.m., and the crowds leave around 10 p.m., but the coffee shop stays open until 11 p.m. In case you like to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee, you can plan to go there earlier during the day or very late in the evening.
